Stretch & Bobbito brought their story to the 19th Annual Urbanworld Film Festival celebrating indie cinema.
The 2015 UrbanWorld Film Festival premiered a Hip-Hop documentary that changed music as we know it!
The festival catered to our taste in independent film, but they also chose to incorporate hip-hop into the mix in a big way. Directors and producers Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Garcia debuted their documentary “Stretch and Bobbito: Radio That Changed Lives.” The documentary sheds light on the 1990’s underground college radio show that Nas, Notorious BIG, Jay Z, Big Pun and Big L made their debuts. The film features artist sit-downs with some of today’s biggest names in the game such as Jay-Z, NAS, Common, Raekwon, Sway, Angie Martinez and Eminem!
Fellow Hip-Hop pioneers hit the red carpet to support Stretch and Bobbito. “Voice of New York” Angie Martinez reflected on the impact that the two DJ’s had on the birth of an era that shaped what hip-hip is today. Amongst passionate supporters were Laura Stylez, DJ Clarke Kent and Rob Markman.
The duo and their team used Kickstarter to raise $65,000 and offered their fans some amazing perks for their contributions. Continue to support the documentary by clicking here. The film will be available October 2015.
